Myanmar army fighter jets launched air strikes on Saturday on a village near the Thai border in an area controlled by an ethnic armed group that has vowed to fight to end the February 1 military coup, the group said.
The Karen National Union, the armed ethnic group that controls the southeast, said combat aircraft attacked the Dai Bu Noi village, forcing farmers to flee.
A spokesman for the Karen Peace Support Network added that there were reports of two people being killed and two wounded, but communications were difficult in the remote area and there were fears of more casualties.
The Karen Union said earlier on Saturday that it had overrun an army base, killing 10 servicemen, as the junta celebrated the annual Armed Forces Day with a parade in the capital, Naypyidaw.
