Today, Saturday, Internet services in Kuwait suffered a severe slowdown as a result of the interruption of a number of international cables, which led to the disruption of nearly 60 percent of the country's Internet services.
According to the Kuwait News Agency, the Kuwaiti Public Authority for Communications and Information Technology reported that "the emergency teams from the Authority's International Connections Department are present at the site that was subjected to cutting and stopping international cables and disrupting nearly 60% of the Internet services in the country."
The agency quoted the director of the International Connections Department at the Authority, Jamal Sadiq, as saying that “the cables were cut in several directions, the first between the division (Umm Al-Haiman) and the (Nusayeb) border center, the second between the division (Umm Al-Haiman) and the division (Al-Zour) and the third between the division (Al-Jahra) and Center (Al Salmi) borders what led to the complete suspension of three international cable systems.
Sadiq indicated that there is joint coordination between the emergency teams of the administration with the Ministry of Services and the approved contractors to repair these cables, during the coming hours, as soon as possible.

The Director of the International Links Department at the Authority, Jamal Sadiq, explained to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) today, Saturday, that there is joint coordination between the emergency teams of the Authority.
To manage with the Kuwaiti Ministry of Services and approved contractors to repair these cables during the coming hours as soon as possible.
Sadiq added that the cable cutting works took place in several directions, the first between the division (Umm Al-Haiman) and the Border Center (Nusayeb) and the second between the divider (Umm Al-Haiman).
And the (Al-Zour) and the third divide between the (Al-Jahra) and Borders Center (Al-Salmi), which led to the suspension of three international cable systems completely.
For his part, the head of the communications sector at the authority, Fahd Al-Fahd, in a similar statement to (KUNA), affirmed that the authority sought to reform the Internet in order to benefit the
Subscribers from individuals, public and private entities, and to preserve their interests and provide them as soon as possible.
He referred to the agency’s move during the coming period to establish a new local cable system in the country to avoid disconnection in the future and is independent from international cables.
